From meetup member- thank you, Leslie! “Regarding the hike this Sunday, i live in Felton and am quite familiar with this park. It’s very easy to miss. The parking area is about 1/4 mile from highway 9 up Felton Empire Rd. There is a small “street” sign that says “Ley” Dr. or Rd. on the right and the turn off to the parking area is a few seconds after. The parking lot is smallish (guess 25-30 cars), dirt, and tends to fill quickly. There is no water at this location. Also, there was a question about dogs-no dogs are allowed as per State Park regulations. On leash or off leash, no dogs. People still take dogs out there and it is a risk...I took some photos of signs and stuff but can’t figure out how to send via this format. Anyway, hope this is helpful”

4.2 mile loop with approximately 935 elevation gain. No information on whether dogs are allowed- if you find out, please message me or post to share the info.

More info to come but please check out the link for AllTrails specs and reviews!

Looks like a nice steady loop with some ups and downs. Moderate trail—I’d recommend experienced and -that hikers are aware of their abilities. You’re always welcome to join for part and head back- I always like to use a buddy system, so please keep this in mind:)

Those who attend can arrange to grab lunch after if they’d like! Feel free to comment in the comment thread.

I haven’t hiked in almost a year due to a knee injury during the Aids Life Cycle last year, but I’m feeling ready to start climbing things again.

With the lush green landscapes right now, I can’t even imagine what beauty awaits us!

Please pack:
Adequate water
Snacks
Sunscreen
Wear appropriate footwear
Inform me of any medical concerns

Know your limits and embrace your experience.

Looking forward to it!

Life happens, so please un-rsvp if you can no longer attend so that we aren’t waiting for you:) Respecting the group and open communication are highly valued!
