Please tell us a little about yourself.

I'm a retired Special Education Teacher-before that I was a regular ed teacher and worked at all levels from K-12 and even a special ed private college in San Francisco. I'm retired now, and love to meet new people, and keep the long standing friends. I have always been a liberal, even as a kid. I still have my Kennedy (JFK for Prez)posters.

Why are you joining this group?

I came upon your Meetup group profile-I consider it a treasure. I happen to be in Dallas, so I would love to meet /and to be one of your members.

This group is for TRUE liberals or progressives, and for those who identify as female. Does that describe you?

It certainly does. In high school and college I was committed to liberal and progressive causes. I came through the sixties and seventies as an activist.

I saw your " Liberal Ladies Who Lunch" meetup and thought I would love to meet active, liberal friends. I'd love to be a part of your group.

What Mary Lee B. is saying about this Meetup Group

I came to Dallas with my daughter, to be near my son. I was feeling really shy and worried about making friends, but when I found out about Meetup groups, I suddenly had a buffet of choices. The LLWL was my first choice, and in the three Saturday meetings I have attended, I feel more a part of them than I would have imagined. I love the diversity in ages and in background, and the fact that we are all of a same mind about our liberal foundation, whether it was something we learned from our parents, or found as growing up experience. I feel right at home there, even though I have been in it for just three weeks. The women are passionate about their politics, and so am I. I know that I will stay with group, and hope to learn everyone's name, and be as good a friend to new members, as these ladies have been to me, already.
