FAC - Trivia, Pool and Fun Conversations

Come to another fun social event with other LBers. We will have our own room, with Trivia from 8-10. This location was suggested by Will. The room is called the Clubhouse and is reserved under my name, not Liberal Boomers. Come whenever you can, we have the room until 10 pm. but obviously our times are flexible. Evans and S Quebec. (West of Quebec and East of Monaco)

Great evening! I will use the $15 our team won at Trivia to buy hors d'oeuvres for everyone next time!

Really enjoyed the FAC, Susan. I hope this becomes maybe a bi-weekly event. Location is very good for me but would be willing to travel to other bar/restaurants, for variety, and/or to be fair to other LBers :)

Liked the informal nature of it all and the ability to "circulate" with beer in hand, talking to various people, rather than to be sitting stationary in one spot all night.

    Nice, friendly group. Fun time.

The Meetup was good, but too long for me. Ran out of gas toward the end. Trivia was fun but as usual they ask the wrong questions (ones I don't know the answers to) and it didn't get over til 10pm. Good location for me. I think I would come later next time, if I was staying for Trivia, which doesn't start til 8pm. Happy hour ended at 7pm as I recall. Enjoyed the conversations and the people :)

In an auto accident last night and not quite up to going. Sorry to miss this; I know it will be a lot of fun.

How awful! I hope you are doing better today.

Thank you Susan. Definitely feel better today.

Sorry I had to miss it. Andrew Romanoff was at the Elks talking to people, so I needed to stay as long as he was there. Then, I was too exhausted. Big day tomorrow

Understandable. Take care of yourself....you need your strength so you can win.

Great conversation and political discourse as always. The trivia was challenging. Love meeting politically like minded new people.

I won't be there until 6:30, but am definitely showing up.

Due to Western Welcome Week, I will be late. I need to go by the Elks first, or perhaps I can come and eave early for the Elks

Perhaps all these words can be turned into action....for example canvassing, sign holding, etc.

    Hey Bob,
I'm so relieved to discover that there are differences between Mr. Coffman and Mr. Romanoff. Of course they didn't respond to the criticism of the TV spot. They could have at least said that they would consider your input and maybe change the focus of future ads. We must win and they have to do better.

    August 12, 2014

    • Bob K.

I was tempted to send his campaign a snarky email about fracking. Apparently Polis is pro fracking now. I assume Coffman is. There's an ad with Bill Owens and Roy Romer walking "hand in hand" promoting fracking. The pro fracking side owns the tv ad wars and of course radio too since progressive talk radio no longer exists in Colorado.

      August 12, 2014

  • Susan G.

Wow, you guys are brutal. :-) If you have a problem with the ad then do something about it. Contact the Romanoff campaign, ask about their strategy and express your thoughts. Let them know that his ad/message needs to be different or better or whatever you want, in order to reach his constituents. But remember. the alternative to Andrew is Coffman...no comparison in terms of integrity, competency or humanism.

OK, I just sent Andrew an email with my concerns. Let's see if he writes back. Of course WE have to vote for Romanoff. He knows this. He knows he has the base no matter what he does or says.

They wrote back. Assured me there were differences between Romanoff and Coffman.
Said to go to the link below to view where he stands on issues.

We should be able to express our thoughts. No one is saying vote for Coffman here.

    August 11, 2014

    • Susan G.

You are absolutely correct, Daphne. This is the perfect place for people to express their thoughts and views. In no way did I intend to offend you or anyone else. But as you know, I am quite active politically so felt compelled to remind people to direct their opinions/voices where they can be heard and hopefully acted upon. In my opinion, this is how to bring about change and to make a difference. Again, please accept my apology if I offended anyone.

Oh Susan I was not offended I am sorry if you felt that. I truly do admire your dedication to real action. I was just disappointed in the ad.

Well, Udall stating that nobody should be making decisions that affect us all locally, especially Washington, also sounds like he's trying to make a play for the conservative base and appeal to the gun rights crowd. Never liked Udall after he aligned himself with Bennett(sp?) and the supposed middle dems. But then it's typical of the Dems to lack a spine and truly stand up for what we believe in.

As a candidate, I should run away from this discussion as fast as possible, but that is not my nature. So, I agree with Susan Coffman is the alternative. I also understand what Bob and Daphne are saying. Here is my take.
Andrew is saying we should balance the budget. He is not saying that we do it on the backs of the environment, the poor, the weak, kids etc. The truth is, we CAN balance the budget and increase funding for social net programs, education, climate change if we cut defense spending AND raise revenue by cutting tax loopholes corporations and billionaires enjoy. I trust Andrew to vote that way while trying to balance the budget. He needs to win first, or we have 2 more years of Coffman and Tea Party rule. As Speaker, that is how they balanced the budget given the restraints of TABOR.

    August 11, 2014

  • Bob K.

Just saw my first Andrew Romanoff tv ad ( saying he really wants a balanced budget in Washington like we have here in Colorado. 30 second ad. Sounds like a republican, talking about federal spending, or that government spending is bad. Racking up a mountain of debt, phrases like that. OK...I see the design of this ad, who he is trying to get to vote for him, but ...

    August 10, 2014

    • Bob K.

The conservative base is never going to vote for Andrew. Our liberal base is never going to vote for Coffman. So who is this ad directed toward? People who don't follow the news, don't know the issues. I don't know. I just don't like him taking my vote for granted. What is wrong with spending money on people, not perpetual wars? The thought must be you can't get elected as a progressive in Colorado. Don't the undecideds want equal pay for women? Don't they reject the extreme conservatism of the republican party? Didn't we legalize marijuana here? Don't we support immigration reform and not favor shipping the Dreamers back to Mexico? Don't we believe in contraception? Isn't this the 21st Century???

The ad is a Dog. And for me doesn't instill any faith in him at all that he will go to Washington and fight for us or the issues we care about. What a coward and I am very disillusioned and I consider myself more of a moderate pragmatic Democrat.

    Hey Robert,

I used to sell real estate out in your district and I'm just wondering what the percent of registered Democrats is vs. Republicans? Has a Democrat ever won in your district? Being the only registered Democrat who was also a realtor in the entire state I wonder about things like this. Do you know where the registered Democrats and independents live? I think the key to winning is to get out the vote since turnout is always an issue in these off years. You can search the public records for homes in the lower price range of district 38 like southglenn for example where working people live. Can't waste time on the Country Club area. As great as you are and I was very impressed with your knowledge of the middle east mess you won't convince many Republicans to vote for you because they are focused on their personal wealth and taking care of people costs money then don't want to spend. Sorry for the length!

Hey Bob, completely agree. Silliest ad I have ever seen. Coffman should be attacked on his views about equal pay for women, immigration reform, and he quite frankly is a racist. The tape of him talking in the hinterlands out East shows his true colors. Make him explain why he is closet birther.
