THE STORY

Glenn Griffin (Humphrey Bogart) is the leader of a trio of escaped convicts who invade the home of Daniel Hilliard (Fredric March) and his family in suburban Indianapolis. The convicts terrorize, torment and hold the four members of the family hostage. They await the arrival of a package from Griffin's girlfriend, which contains funds to aid the three fugitives in their escape. Local and State Police, as well as the F.B.I. organize a statewide manhunt for the escapees and eventually discover the distraught family's plight. The story was based on an actual event. This was to be Bogart’s final tough guy role of his career.
