Join us for our next meeting of our bilingual Spanish-English book club “Entre dos mundos” on Saturday, February 2 from 3 pm to 5 pm. We will be commenting Carlos Ruiz Zafón's El prisionero del cielo, either in its original Spanish version or in its English translation The Prisoner of Heaven by Lucia Graves. Or both!
This is the fun thing about this book club! It’s totally up to you: you can choose to read the book either in Spanish or in its English translation, or in both! During the meeting, we will have bilingual discussions on different aspects of the book, including topics that are interesting to translators, such as the linguistic, stylistic and cultural choices made in translation.
You can find descriptions and reviews about the book here http://www.eldiario.es/canariasahora/cultura/Zafon-publica-prisionero-novela-luminosa_0_307969629.html and https://www.theguardian.com/books/2012/jun/28/prisoner-heaven-carlos-ruiz-zafon-review.
You can get any of the book's versions on Amazon or in local libraries and bookstores. Always check your local bookstore or library before ordering in Amazon if you like supporting local, independent businesses.
This Book Club started in New York City last November, and it will now run simultaneously in New York and in San Francisco.

Happy bilingual reading and see you soon!
