Language Industry Visibility
Language professionals are an amazing group of highly educated, skilled, and talented people! Why doesn't the world know that? Jeannette Stewart will identify some of the challenges we have in gaining recognition and suggest a few potential solutions. The audience will be able to discuss and explore the value community projects have in creating awareness of our profession.
About the speaker
Jeannette Stewart is a cofounder of Translation Commons, a nonprofit aiming to unite the diverse sectors within the language community to encourage cross-functional collaboration. It's mission is to share knowledge, offer free tools, organize language resources and facilitate community initiatives. She is the former CEO of CommuniCare, a life-sciences translation company with offices in London, Paris, Athens, Budapest and Los Angeles. Jeannette has been involved in high-profile projects such as the “Genome Project” and prototyping the “online Unified Submission Process” for the European Medicine Agency. She writes articles for the “Community Lives” column in MultiLingual on community initiatives. Jeannette has founded, served on the board of directors, moderated and volunteered in various educational and health charities.
