Hey guys! So Lydia is feeling under the weather, Kayla is getting there around 5:30 and I'm stuck at school doing work! I called ahead they know we are coming and should pull chairs out - (ask for Teresa I spoke with her) so please get comfortable and get started. Lynn if you could please lead today since you're bringing the wonderful audio recording too that would be very much appreciated. Thank you guys see you next time I hope! All the best.

Hi everybody, I will be bringing and playing a 20-minute segment of a CD of Sylvia Plath reading her own poems from Ariel. I couldn't understand them at first but after what seems like a mini-lifetime of research and analysis I'm beginning to get the picture. Turns out, Ted Hughes (her husband) may not have been the bad guy after all. See you Saturday.

I have an irrational (ok, maybe it is rational) hatred of selfies...but I approve of this.

Hi! My friendly librarian lent me a CD of Sylvia Plath reading her own poetry. It is fantastic--she enunciates every consonant and hisses every "s." The language really pops. The phrasing and the internal rhymes are more apparent than when I read it to myself. Interesting--the spoken versions of some of the poems are slightly different from the published ones. I'm looking forward to seeing Gwyneth Paltrow's film "Sylvia."
