Details Samuelsson is one truly interesting chef:

He was born in Ethiopia and later adopted by Swedish parents after his mother died in a tuberculosis epidemic. He studied at the Culinary Institute of Gothenburg, then moved to New York to apprentice at the acclaimed Restaurant Aquavit (where he become the youngest chef ever -- at age 24 -- to win a coveted three-star review from the New York Times.) He's hosted two television series of his own, and has been a contestant or judge on Top Chef, Iron Chef America and Chopped more times than I can count.

Samuelsson was the chosen chef for President Obama's very first state dinner, a stunning, mostly-vegetarian taste of India proudly served on the South Lawn. He started a charity foundation to provide culinary career training for at-risk youth. He married a super-model. And just last week he won yet another James Beard Award, this time taking the Writing & Literature prize for his latest book, "Yes, Chef: A Memoir."

It's this very book that he'll be signing and talking about on Saturday, May 18th at a special, star-studded reception at Studio Snaidero in the Chicago Merchandise Mart. Enjoy wine and hors d'oeuvres inspired by some of Chef Samuelsson's most famous dishes as you mingle with other foodies and literary fans. Receive your own personally-signed copy of "Yes, Chef." And help support over 3,000 Chicago students -- many from our toughest neighborhoods -- who gain real cooking skills, confidence and pride from Chef Samuelsson's life-changing Careers Through Culinary Arts Program.

Tickets are $50 and can be purchased at the door or in advance at . Make sure you buy a ticket -- just RSVP'ing here will NOT get you into the event.
