This group provides an introduction to Buddhist chanting practice for novice who are interested in exploring the differences between chanting and meditation. There are numerous meditation groups already, so this group activity is offered primarily as a focus on the chanting practice. One distinct feature of chanting is that it will challenge and provide the spark to change your habits, to live your life differently, more energized, fully.
We will be hosting our meetings in a covid safe on-line venue, using Zoom. Our meetup group will meet once a month and have access to prepared on-line discussion and presentation materials that will explain the basics of a chanting practice and key Buddhist concepts involved in chanting. Make yourself welcome, respond to the RSVP (and receive the study material in PDF before the meeting), and join in on these one hour long Zoom discussion meetings. Afterwards, we can meet separately as a Meetup Group in a Zoom guest "room" to introduce ourselves and meet fellow meetup members and along with other practicing Buddhists. Although you may be a novice, as we all were at one time in this practice, there is a wealth of experience that can be gleaned in your first encounters with Buddhist chanting that never leaves you. You can take away as much information as you want about the Buddhist community in our local area, and what is going on regionally and nationally.
