Kayak, Stand Up Paddle Surf & Pot Luck Dinner: Deer Creek Reservoir

Join us for a beautiful evening out on the water.  All abilities welcome. The water is warm.  Bring some food to share and join us for an evening picnic as well!

Those attending must pay the $35 Annual Outdoor Adventure Club Fee.  Details below.  Pay online or in person when you arrive.

What is this? In addition to taking our outdoor adventure group hiking, snowshoeing, skiing, camping, traveling, etc. we also have several sit on top, flat water kayaks and Stand Up Paddle Boards.  There will be several outings this summer like this, so when I post an event, I hope you'll join us!

Who is invited: Current members of my Live and Thrive Outdoor Adventure Group are invited.  If you are not a member, join today.  It's easy. Pay online or pay me in person via cash or check. ANNUAL dues are $35/person and includes 12 full months of membership. As a MEMBER, you receive invites to over 350 outdoor adventure outings.  Membership includes up to FIVE kayak/stand up paddle board outings, which also includes equipment i.e. kayak, SUP rental and instruction as needed. For those who want to attend more than 5 times, simply purchase another $35 membership.  You won't find a better value anywhere if you come often and join us on these outings.

You are required to stay with our group and not take off on your own to another part of this large reservoir.  You also agree to abide by some basic water safety rules for your own protection and the safety of others.  If you have a life jacket, bring it, otherwise we'll provide you with one of ours. RSVP is required.   You are expected to help us carry the watercraft down to the water and back up again before you leave.  This is a job I can not do on my own so everyone's help is appreciated and needed!

Be the first to hear about all of the Kayak and SUP outings:  TEXT me and ask to be added to our Kayak and SUP TEXT MESSAGE List. [masked] I'll also post all outings on Meetup and on my Liveandthrive.com Calendar.

What to wear and what to bring:  A swim suit or clothes that can get wet, a camp chair or yoga pad to sit on, second set of clothes, towel, water bottle, sunglasses,  life jacket if you have one, and some food to share with the group.  Wear whatever you feel most comfortable in. KEEP ALL ITEMS IN THE CAR UNTIL AFTER YOU HAVE HELPED US TAKE THE BOATS DOWN TO THE WATER. CALL WHEN YOU ARRIVE IF YOU ARE NOT SURE WHERE TO FIND ME. [masked]

Where to go:  DEER CREEK ISLAND RESORT Since I am storing my watercraft at Deer Creek Reservoir all summer, this is the only place we will be kayaking and stand up paddle surfing from now until September.  There are bathrooms, water, a beach and shaded picnic area nearby. This is a STATE PARK which requires an entrance fee of $10/vehicle which may include up to 8 people/vehicle.

How to save some money on entrance fees: There is a dirt parking lot just off the main highway within 1/4 mile of the Deer Creek Island Resort entrance (between Heber and the Resort). If you are driving alone or have just a few people in your car, don't go into the state park before you call me.  Someone from our group may come and pick you up or we may be able to quickly arrange a carpool at that parking lot so everyone can pay a small portion of the entrance fee.

How many attend:  It varies. Don't ever base your decision on the numbers you see from "meetup" since it's always inaccurate.  This Meetup site is one of many sites people find out about my outings. I currently have enough watercraft to accommodate 12 people out on the water at any given time.  We usually don't have more than that.  If we do have more than that, we'll rotate around.

When: Most outings will be offered on a Saturday evening when the water is calmer. Sometimes there may not be a lot of notice since I'm scheduling this around family events.  I apologize for this in advance.  When you see me post an outing, drop everything, RSVP and join us!!  You won't regret it!!

How long:  Come and stay for the full event or just a little while.

Today was my first experience with Sheryl's meetup group and I will definitely continue to attend. I had a fantastic time learning how to kayak and paddle surf. Sheryl is a patient teacher and makes sure that everyone is safe and having a good time. I made some good friends today. Thanks to everyone who made this such a memorable experience!
