Paris-based 'gypsy' jazz guitarist Sébastien Giniaux will be making a rare U.S. performance at this show, performing as part of a trio also featuring bass and rhythm guitar. You can hear his music (and see some of his terrific paintings) at the following links:
This should be a terrific, lively show in an intimate setting - and at a bargain price! :)
VENUE: The show is in the small, funky Red Poppy Art House, located at 23rd and Folsom.
COST: The show costs $10 to $15 sliding scale. Tix are general admission (seated show), available when doors open. Shows at the Red Poppy typically last about 2 1/4 hours, including a short intermission between the two sets.
***NOTE** The Red Poppy accepts CASH ONLY.
DINNER BEFORE THE SHOW: For those who are interested in dinner beforehand, I've made reservations at Sugoi Sushi on Valencia, located about a 15-minute walk from the Red Poppy.
WHEN/WHERE TO MEET: Meet outside Sugoi Sushi at 1058 Valencia (nr 22nd Street) by 5:30 p.m. (The show starts at 8:00 p.m., but, given how small the venue is, it's a good idea to get to the Red Poppy when the doors open, at 7:30 p.m., in case the show sells out.) If you're not doing dinner, let's look for each other outside the Poppy at about 7:30 p.m. It'd be even better if we have each other's cell phone numbers.
