What we’re about
Meet other local fans of jazz, blues, and world music while enjoying live performances by top-notch musicians.
The San Francisco Bay Area is home to an amazing live music scene, with an assortment of venues that provide an intimate and affordable way to experience music as it's meant to be: spontaneous, inventive, and alive.
There's so much music happening in the Bay Area, there is something available every weekend for every taste and budget.
So join us, and use this Meetup group to connect with other music fans. We're mainly about listening to live jazz, but we also post blues shows, as well as tango, flamenco, world music, and cross-genre. In addition, we occasionally post theater events and films that have a music-related plotline or other "hook."
If you know about a show you'd like to see listed, feel free to suggest the event to Meetup organizers for hosting, or you can post the show on the "Discussions" page and invite your fellow Meetup members to attend with you.
Hope to see you at an upcoming show!

See all- Tribute to Hans Zimmer, a concert by candlelightSt. Ignatius Church, San Francisco, CA
Fans of film composer Hans Zimmer and the movie, Interstellar, will be entranced by this unique presentation of The Best of Hans Zimmer, at the St. Ignatius Church SF (Lone Mountain) in a candlelight setting, and performed by The Listeso String Quartet. The social part of this meetup is dinner after the concert that will be a short drive away which we can carpool to. Details to follow.
Wikipedia: “Hans Zimmer is a German film score composer and music producer. He has won two Oscars and four Grammys, and has been nominated for three Emmys and a Tony. Zimmer was also named on the list of Top 100 Living Geniuses, published by The Daily Telegraph in 2007.”
Well, I’m a huge fan of Interstellar that supplanted my favorite movie, Blade Runner. Hans Zimmer already a major film composer for blockbuster films, has composed a score that is both timeless and classic. Never mind his scores for the films Gladiator, The Lion King, Inception, to name others that you may be familiar with.
Press Release: Candlelight concerts bring the magic of a live, multi-sensory musical experience to awe-inspiring locations like never seen before in SF Bay Area. Get your tickets now to discover the music of Hans Zimmer at St. Ignatius Church under the gentle glow of candlelight.

The concert doors open at 5:30, music starts at 6:30 and goes for 60 min. There are 5 seating zones priced from $30 to $70.I’m getting the Zone B ticket, $60. If you get a Zone B ticket we can sit together. Afterwards, our dinner social will be at a restaurant on Balboa St. (Inner Richmond) about 6 blocks away. The church is not very large so I suggest you get your ticket before it sells-out.
Of course you can just attend the concert but if you want to socialize with fellow jazz fans, rsvp here. In general, our members are avid jazz fans, middle age and up, enjoy socializing with food and drink, and show-up on time. Please have good intentions when you rsvp; and update your status if it changes. 'No-Shows' or 'Place-holders' are no good and it weakens the vitality of our group.
- Larry Vuckovich Sextet at the BachBach Dancing & Dynamite Society, Half Moon Bay, CA
I bet a bunch of you have thought about going to the “Bach” (Bach Dancing & Dynamite Society ) in Half Moon Bay (HMB) but you couldn't find someone to go with. Well, I’ve been to the Bach a couple of times and have figured out how to make it a meetup. Let's have lunch and the Larry Vuckovich Sextet and it's a can't miss meetup. Yes, you can just attend the concert but because this is a meetup the socializing starts with lunch 1:30 at the historic Moss Beach Distillery just north of HMB. See link: https://mossbeachdistillery.com/. I’ll make a reservation for 4 that can grow to 6 if the demand is there. After lunch about 3:00 we have a short drive to the Bach around 3:30 share a bottle of wine and watch the sunset. 4:30 music starts, 2 breaks, music ends 7:00.
Press release: Pianist Larry Vuckovich brings an all-star Bay-Area sextet presenting a melodic and joyous repertoire including marimba, guitar and percussion. Vuckovich has won acclaim for his deeply imaginative style and varied repertoire. He was among the first to fuse the Balkan ethnic Gypsy-Roma elements with American Jazz. His landmark release of his LP, Blue Balkan featuring Bobby Hutcherson and Eric Golub, set him apart from the mainstream. He is as equally at home in world music/classically influenced modal jazz as he is in hard-swinging bebop, post-bop, contemporary jazz, and the blues. Vuckovich has been fortunate to have played, toured, and recorded with Dexter Gordon, Philly Joe Jones, Jon Hendricks, Mel Torme, Tony Bennett, and more.
