Weekday Morton Peak hike

I will not be able to make this one.  However, Julie Irvin will take lead of the group this week up Morton Peak. As described by SummitPost, Morton Peak is a peak in the foothills of the San Bernardino Mountains that overlooks the Mentone, Redlands, and Yucaipa areas. Perched on top is a historic fire lookout which you can rent out and spend the night in. The views from the top on a clear day are tremendous including what may be the best view of Mill Creek Canyon. You also have great views of Keller and Slide Peaks which rise immediately to the north, San Bernardino Peak to the east, Mt. San Jacinto, Palomar Mountains, and the Crafton Hills to the south, Cucamonga Peak & Mt. Baldy to the west, not to mention the towns of Mentone, Yucaipa, Redlands, Highland, and San Bernardino.

Distance: Round Trip 6.00 miles
Elevation Gain: 1,344 feet

Considering the elevation gain, this is a STRENUOUS hike. So please be in a moderately decent shape for hiking and prepare for a good work-out. Bring enough water to drink (1-1.5 liters) and FLASHLIGHT/HEAD LAMP. Also, plan to be out between 2-2.5 hours depending on your hiking ability.

We'll meet at the Millcreek Ranger Station at 5:45p, depart from there at 5:50p, and begin the hike from the trailhead leading up to Morton Peak at 6:00p.. If you already know where the trailhead is, you can meet us there. Also, an Adventure Pass will not be necessary as long as we park in the area before the fire road starts.

If you have any questions, shoot me an email......Robert
