Rescheduled Partner Event: Design for Social Innovation Open House

  • Nov 16, 2012 · 1:00 PM
  • SVA

Social Innovation is one of the most dynamic, expansive forces in the world today, yet there has been no learning path for designers who want to play a leading role in it – until now.

DSI is the first MFA program in Design for Social Innovation, created for designers looking for meaningful and engaging work through which they can make a significant contribution to society, as well as for graduates in other disciplines who want to learn to harness the power of design to create positive change and transformation.

I am a writer for The Industry, and we are starting a column on sustainable design and I'm seeking stories on social entrepreneurs in the web and app design industry working on social good projects that need publicity for their cause. Please email me at [masked] with your stories!

Actually, I won't be able to attend this event, but please email me if you are or know any designers who have social projects!

Wanna help Sandy, but staying at home or not in NY? My friend @UncleNate DiNiro is a nationally known technologist helping @CrisisCommons nonprofit coordinate crisis response resources using tech & computerized mapping. Currently they are:

    1. Calling for VOLUNTEERS from around the world to help this weekend(see website) & ongoing, including developers, GIS, & any background welcome.

    2. Looking for different SOURCES of community & resource info to include.

    3. Taking REQUESTS for What resources would you like to see in a list or map? Eg Health or senior services?
(FEMA & White House have officially asked Crisis Commons to map New York hotel rooms, New Jersey gas stations, & Rhode Island damage.)
