We took some time off over the summer from our Crafting for a Cause, but let's get back to making our beautiful crochet lap blankets for military veterans in the North Chicago VA Hospital.
So how do we make these blankets?
We spend a couple of hours chatting with friends over a cup of coffee while we create crochet squares from yarn. The squares are joined together to form a comforting lap blanket for one of our country's veterans. The squares are a very simple version of the "granny square".
NO EXPERIENCE IS NEEDED! You will learn everything you need to know to produce a blanket square, and it's easy enough that you may be able to make at least one complete square while we are together. It's easy! There is NO take-home work, and ALL materials and tools will be provided.
There is a great video tutorial online that shows how to make this granny square. If you would like to watch the video, here is the link:
A link with written instructions and pictures will be posted - I'm working to simplify the instructions to make it easier to follow. :-)
Bonus for our December crafting get together - a Holiday Cookie Exchange! If you are interesting in participating, answer "Yes" to the cookie exchange question when you RSVP, and you will get a message with the details.
