What we're about

This is a group for anyone who knows what it is like to suffer with this monster called chronic pain. I know how hard it can be to connect with others who understand what it is like to live with this. Chronic pain, particularly moderate to severe chronic pain, can be isolating and depressing. Not only is it difficult to connect with people who understand, it can be hard just to get out and connect with people in general.

That is why I started this group. I wanted to create a place where people with all types of chronic pain could come together, socialize, and support each other. This group is a safe place for us to talk about things we can't talk about with people in our lives who do not understand chronic pain. There is just one rule: what is said in the group does not leave the group.

My hope is that this will be a group where people can laugh, cry, vent, and encourage and inspire each other. Life goes on, and I want us all to live the best lives we possibly can!

Please check out the message boards and feel free to add your thoughts!

We also have a "secret" Facebook group. It is a private, safe online support forum in which members can connect with others with chronic pain. Please message me if you would like to be added.

Please note: We do not allow soliciting. Please do not come to the group intending to sell a product or service. You will not be allowed back. (If you want to share information about a particular product that has helped you, that's fine as long as you don't profit from it financially!)

December Support Meetup (Virtual)

Online event

*Due to coronavirus-related concerns and the need for physical distancing, meetings will take place via Zoom (or another video platform) until it is safe to meet in person again.* ________________________________ Meetings are open to all who are affected by chronic pain (and their loved ones). Our objective is to listen with compassion, support each other in coping with the challenges that living with chronic pain can bring, and to inspire each other to live as fully as possible. This is a safe space where we are free to discuss the issues that those who do not have chronic pain often do not understand. Prior to the pandemic, we met in person at the Bethesda Chevy Chase Regional Services Center on the 3rd Thursday of each month from 7-9 p.m. The building is wheelchair accessible and meeting rooms have upholstered chairs but no armrests. You are welcome to bring any cushions or pillows you may need. Signs will be posted in the lobby. Please follow this link for detailed directions: http://montgomerycountymd.gov/bcc/directions.html Meeting rooms are located on the second floor of the building. Metro is just down the street. If you're driving, there is garage parking for $1.25 per hour. There are two elevator banks that lead from the garage to the building. (Sometimes one elevator bank is out of service, but when that happens the other elevator bank is fully operable.) You are welcome to bring pillows, cushions, mats, heating pads, and/or anything else that would make you feel more comfortable. You may also bring food/beverages if you need to eat during the meeting. If you have any questions, please message me. Meet new friends and support your fellow Pain Warriors! ------------------------------------------------ **I know from experience that chronic pain can make life unpredictable. With that in mind, if you find that you are unable to attend a meetup you have signed up for, please do not forget to update your RSVP!** RSVPs can be updated until the start of the meeting. If the meeting has already started and you realize that you cannot make it, please either post directly on the meetup page that you will not be attending. It only takes a moment to do this, and I genuinely appreciate it. Thank you so much for your understanding and cooperation!!!
