Highland Lake State Park, White Lake, Mi

The main park, located on m-59, has trails of 3, 4, and 5 miles. The trails are well marked and relatively flat. The property was originally bought by Henry Ford after the Charles Lindburgh baby kidnapping. Henry build an estate there to protect his children. The trails pass by the Ford mansion (burnt down), servant quarters, and swimming pool where the Ford childern would play. The trail is beautiful in the snow making for a great winter walk. In the spring it would be easier to view the remnants of the estate. My name is Bob Pruneau

This is a new location for our group to hike at. I've only hiked there one other time with a different group. Glad some of you were able to meet up and get some hiking in.

Donna, Reni, and I had a very nice hike up to Haven Hills and saw the remnants of the estate. The hike up the drive was very invigorating. I'm glad I met these two ladies.

Where are we meeting? This is my first "meetup" event and I am a bit lost here lol. I am sure there is a designated area to meet, but I cannot seem to find it.

sorry, i did not see this question in time to respond. My intention was to meet at the main entrance, and then, decide whether to just park there, depending on how many people showed up, or move to larger lot further in.

well, even though I could not find anyone, I hope some of you still enjoyed yourselves. There was limited parking by the main gate, to the left, but, there was additional parking to the right, behind the park office, I mention this in the event that this gets scheduled again, though it won't be me, I was not impressed with the appearance of the park, plus, the condition of the roads was poor in comparison to the state parks that I usually visit.

yeah, I wanted to know the same thing. I showed up a little late, bc, I got in a minor accident on the way (it was abt 10 after) and I did not see anyone. I waited until 3:30, and then, drove around looking, the place did not look very inviting to me, what with all the bulldozing that had been going on (though they were at rest at the time, their activity was all too apparent), and so, after driving around to all the parking lots, hoping to find somebody, I gave up.

My apologies. Although I really want to do this hike (great waya to start with the group is in my own back yard), I find myself in need of more time on a refinishing project I have to complete. I have to bow out. I will be doing another one though! Enjoy the day!

My apologies. Yes. This is my first time doing anything with this "meetup" system and i honestly didnt think about the RSVP factor. Having to back out doesnt normally happen, but with the weather as it has been of late, a nice day for clear coats to cure are rare. Again, my apologies

If you don't yet have your state recreation passport, here is a change to get one for free, thanks to another member of one of my other meetups letting me know.

Again, if anyone is interested in carpooling, please let us know by Saturday. We will be leaving from the Northville Meijer on Haggerty Rd near 8 Mile at approximately 2:15pm.

I must confess that this will be my first time at the park, so, Bob, if you are familiar with the area, then, I put you in charge of picking the trails, since this is event is your idea. Hope that works for you.

Hope this day and time works. None of my other grps ever schedule anything for Sundays later than 1pm, (unless I do it) and since we don't even get out of church until 1, we usually end up bored with nothing to do those days.

This is a great hike, I've only been once with another group so don't know the trails too well. I think we can plan it for spring when our weather is a little warmer.
