Welcome to our first London Algorithms and Data Structures Meetup!! On Wednesday, May 22nd, starting at 6:30pm, we’ll meet in the lobby of The Ace Hotel for some drinks and algorithms/data structures fun.
Let’s dive in!
We’ll actually start learning right away. We have an area of the lounge booked for our Meetup. Please ask for the London Algorithms and Data Structures Meetup when you walk in, or just walk through the lounge towards the bar.
The meetup schedule will be:
6:30pm - 7:00pm : Hellos and networking
7:00pm - 9:30pm : *Pair whiteboarding
*We’ll be forming pairs to solve code challenges. You can organize your pair however you’d like. One person can ask a question, then the other person can solve it. You can solve a challenge together. You can get to actual syntax, one person can write a test, and the other person can make it pass, and then switch… the possibilities are endless.
You’re also welcome to just come and meet other LADSers. Feel free to drop in/out as you please. It’s very informal.
I will bring things for you
-I’ll have a list of RSVPs for the meetup and can help find you someone to pair with! (it’s also quite likely that you’ll meet this person organically, but just in case)
-I’ll also have a bunch of name tags, so pick one up so people can easily find you and get to know how lovely you are
-I’ll have a couple of starter algorithms/data structure challenges for you. They’ll all be easy (but of course you can optimize and make them more difficult, etc...)
You will need to bring things too
-We will not have actual whiteboards at the first meetup, so bring a pad of paper and pens/pencils to solve questions on
-While I’ll have a couple of starter algorithms/data structures for you, but it’s a good idea to bring some of your favorite code challenges to challenge your new friends with. You can either print them out or save them to your phone. Some sites, like LeetCode, have native apps.
-If you want to bring an optional laptop/tablet, feel free to. There is wifi in the lounge. That said, keep in mind that we’re in a bar and you’ll have to watch your stuff for the evening

Stay tuned for tech talks and a hackathon this summer! As we get rolling, we’ll add more events.
