This brilliant exhibition of artefacts from the roman towns of Pompeii and Herculaneum buried under millions of tons of ash (which preserved a lot) that fateful day in 79 AD when Mount Vesuvius erupted has been called "EXHIBITION OF THE YEAR" (The Times)
Many of the exhibits including ( the searingly emotive) plaster casts of some of the hollows which were formed by the bodies, have been flown in specially from the Museo Arcaeologico Napoli and include a babies cot, flower and marine frescoes and very beautiful jewellery.
It closes at end of September but I have already bought five tickets, and there will be a prize for person who replies to me first
This is likely to be thirsty work so we shall go to the Plough in Museum Street around 7.30pm if anyone else wishes to join us they would be more than welcome.
