• #LondonAI September Meetup: Financial Services Use Cases

    Boston Consulting Group

Dear Makers, The August meetup was a great success, thanks all for coming. Let's keep the momentum going and meet again in September. This time we will focus on financial services use cases. Many thanks to Syed Husain from The Boston Consulting Group (BCG), we will be hosting our September meetup at their London office. Agenda: - 18:30 to 19:00 Pizzas + Networking - Welcoming Remarks by H2O.ai and BCG - Tech Talks - Networking until 21:00 === Talk 1: Extending H2O Driverless AI Platform with Your Own Recipes by Jo-fai Chow (H2O.ai) Recipes are customisations and extensions to the Driverless AI platform. These can be custom machine learning models, transformers, or scorers (classification or regression), written in Python. Data scientists can bring their own recipes or leverage the open-source recipes available by the community and curated by H2O.ai data science experts. In this talk, Joe will show you how to combine your own domain knowledge with H2O's automatic machine learning platform Driverless AI. About Jo-fai: Jo-fai (or Joe) has multiple roles (data science / customer success / community) at H2O.ai. https://www.linkedin.com/in/jofaichow/ https://www.h2o.ai/ https://www.h2o.ai/products-h2o-driverless-ai-recipes/ === Talk 2: Alternative Data in Finance by Julian Kalijuvee (DataScrum) Alternative data refers to data used by investors to evaluate a company or investment that is not within their traditional data sources (financial statements, SEC filings, management presentations, press releases, etc.). Alternative data helps investors get more accurate, faster, or more granular insights and metrics into company performance than traditional data sources. Over the last 10 years, increases in computing power and personal device usage created massive growth in data generation. As a direct outcome, a large number of companies emerged to collect, clean, analyse, and interpret data and provide it as a product that could inform investment decisions. We present the history and overview of alternative data space in finance, different categories of alternative data and finally review a sample trading strategy leveraging basic AI / ML models for alt data based trading. About Julian: Julian Kaljuvee is a co-founder DataScrum, a London-based community focusing on applications of alternative data across various industries including financial services, insurance, and health care. https://www.linkedin.com/in/juliankaljuvee/ https://www.datascrum.co.uk/ === Talk 3: AI Chatbots in Banking & Insurance Action, today by Errol Finkelstein (senseforth.ai) Over the past few years we've been implementing AI Conversational bots for Banks, Insurers and others in Financial Services. This presentation will step you through some of the experiences, some of the live on-screen action that displays the key differences between dialogue and artificially powered conversation. You will come away with an appreciation of how far things have moved already into everyday usage – our clients’ customers are well into chatting with AI bots to do business – the phase of talking about doing AI is in the past! About Errol: Managing Director – Senseforth UK Distribution https://www.linkedin.com/in/errolfinkelstein/ https://senseforth.ai/
