  • We have LIFT-OFF! Editing for (Fiction) Writers

I will lead a practical session for writers who want to bring their work to the next level - and aim for the stars! It will be planned for fiction writing but many tips can be applicable to non-fiction as well. We'll start with a brief chat about our goals, to set a benchmark. Then we will look at a few pages of our own work and apply a targeted editing process to address common weaknesses and share common strengths. To bring: 1) some pages of your own work, 2) a sample of a writer you admire whose work is like your own, 3) any books/resources you have found useful on your writing journey, plus notebook/pen or laptop - whatever you would normally use. This will be a bespoke session tailored to the needs of the group. It is a chance to work on your own writing in a focused way, not a sharing or feedback group. The purpose is to practice raising the quality of our own writing. This makes a nice Artist's Date for our Artists' Way folks and a super inspiration for our Mutual Fanclub regulars - but you do not have to have done The Artists' Way to participate. [This session is FREE, but please purchase something from the cafe if you can. If there is any issue with the venue, we'll reconvene at Planet Organic next door.]
