COMPULSORY Q (no membership if not answered): Pls describe yr position on religion/faith e.g. atheist, naturalist, 'agnostic', religious doubter, religious, OR any description that best describes you. (Not to label you, just to know group make-up)

COMPULSORY Q: Why do you want to join? (if faith/religion bothers you, what aspects in particular? (Helps us tailor activities to your concerns (within our remit of "peacefully promote reason/atheism")). Pls write as much or as little as you like.

I grew up in a religious family, mother protestant, father catholic, and went to both churches. I believed until I moved out of home and heard what non believers had to say - and it made sense. What bothers me is how it clouds people's judgement, and is an excuse to push personal political beliefs and agendas. If you don't do it our way, our Omnipotent god will get you. I know from experience how easy it is to delude oneself; I used to do it all the time - especially with prayer. If there is no apparent answer to your plea, there is always an 'out'. Ie - 'my faith wasnt strong enough', or 'god has a different plan for me', or (my personal favourite) 'the devil stopped it from happening'.

Where did you hear about us?

(You're welcome as a social or even a silent member, & there's absolutely no pressure - but would you want to be involved (at some stage) in actively challenging faith in any way? Petitions, leafleting etc, or something else?

Have not done so but would certainly consider it.

If so, what kind of issues are most emotive for you? What kind of activism do you prefer - humourous/cheeky or more direct? Any other ideas you'd like to share at the moment?

While it is easy to get angry at theists, the calm and rational approach is always best. As Kirk Cameron said 'circumnavigate their intellect'! LOL

I'll believe when God himself takes me for a joyride in his celestial chariot. Although I don't believe in man made gods, I have a (skeptical) interest in things like UFOs and other dimensions (Does that make me agnostic?)
