Egypt's 'Christian' Copts and their churches are under siege as Islamists react to the (Christian funded) military crackdown against pro-Muslim Brotherhood sit-ins. Several monasteries, churches, the Bible Society headquarters, a convent, and a Franciscan school have been burned, demolished or otherwise attacked in greater Cairo, Upper Egypt, Sinai and Suez, the independent MidEast Christian News is reporting this in a series of detailed, horrific accounts - which are quite traditional reactions amongst us believers in the One True God (or three); especially when we keep tell the muslims they're praising the wrong one.

So why are we suprised? Well, we are not. But we do need your indignant financial support so that we can fund another invasion of the oil rich Middle East. Our government (In God They Trust) cannot afford this as they're funding the Egyptian military to beat-up and shoot their own (muslim) citizens. They're doing this during this time of austerity as they believe that beating up moslems is more important than paying national debts.

Targets of the rioters are Orthodox, Catholic and Evangelical religious houses of worship and other religious sites (Note: A religious site is one which we say it is - Islamic ones don't count), as well as private homes and property of the poor, peaceful, God fearing Christian minority. In some cases, Egypt's security forces have protected the Christians from enflamed Islamist mobs; in many others they are failing to stop the mayhem. Several priests have also reportedly been assaulted.

The Copts are (sadly) not part of the military assault against Muslim Brotherhood protesters in two of Cairo's squares, and were but one of many factions of Egyptian society that supported the military's ouster of President Mohamed Morsi. But, as Girgis Naiem explained here last month, the Copts have been scapegoated by the Muslim Brotherhood and other Islamists since the beginning of the July 3 military intervention - which is to be totally expected because that's what all decent religions do - pick on the smaller sects so they can beat the crap out of them and claim the resulting bloody mess as a victory for their God. We know this, we do it all the time too - especially as we can't pick on blacks any more and the gays are becoming harder targets. It's in the Bible I'm sure.

When asked about growing violence against Egypt's Christian minority at yesterday's press briefing, U.S. State Department spokesperson Marie Harf responded simply that it is "concerned" - this is political code which means that the CIA are actively 'undertaking wet operations' against the pro-Muslim Brotherhood in order to make them more amenable to our peaceful Christian ways.

Beyond the general aim of "moving forward with a democratic process," (i.e. "convert to Christianity") the Obama administration apparently has no policy specifically directed to help this religious minority ("Copts are not proper Born-Again Christians like what we Americans are and anyway, they don't speak the language of our Good Lord."). This can only mean it is either unwilling to use or has lost all leverage with Egypt's military, which Secretary Kerry so generously funds to the tune of over $1 Billion per year - which just goes to prove that us Christians can lie just as well as any other religion!

So please be indignant and give us your money - you know this is God's Will, that's why He makes you go to work and get paid.

Praise The Lord!
