This a group for moms & dads who want to start their babies on solid food using the Baby Led Weaning approach and are looking to build a community around the baby led (child led) rearing philosophy. It provides support, sharing experiences and challenges in a safe community that shares similar approach to child-rearing.

Baby led weaning is a natural, gentle  and common-sense approach to introducing solid food to babies 6 months old. Six months old babies do not need to be spoon-fed pureed food (spoon-feeding has been designed for premature baby feeding on solids at time when babies were given solid food at 4-6 weeks). According to the current recommendations of the World Health Organisation (WHO), UK Health department, American Academy of Paediatrics, babies should not be introduced to solid food before 6 months of age as their digestive system is still immature.

Baby Led weaning (BLW) is an alternative to the puree spoon feeding and it simply means that babies self-feed themselves with natural, healthy, wholesome finger-sized food. According to an increased number of studies on the topic, there are many benefits of using this approach as opposed to passive spoon-feeding.
