What is it about? My hope is to create a group that offers a safe environment where we can come together to discuss our interest and experiences specifically re. using a ketogenic diet when following cancer treatment. I am starting this an exchange and a self-help group for people who are interested in an anti-inflammatory ketogenic diet used alongside traditional cancer treatment.
There seems to be little public awareness of the use of a healthy ketogenic diet as a means of supporting cancer patients' treatment. In my line of work, I meet cancer patients with different types of the disease, and of all different stages. Many tell me they were told to "just eat anything as long as you don't lose weight", or "what you eat makes no difference". I have lost count of the times I have wished that patients or their family had been aware of some simple aspects of how nutrition can affect cancer earlier on in their journey. So my hope is to create a group in which people can come together in a safe environment, where they can bring their concerns, questions, interests and worries specifically about the ketogenic diet as used with cancer.
Who should join? Are you a cancer patient, a recovering cancer patient, or in remission, and you are interested in a healthy ketogenic diet? Or maybe you cook for a cancer patient, or are a family member of someone who is fighting cancer.
How about meeting up? It would be great if we could gather enough people to have a first meeting. I have access to a hall in Central East London which we could use, but naturally open to other options.
About me. I work as a naturopathic nutritionist with focus on supporting cancer patients alongside their traditional medical treatment. And I use a specialised antiinflammatory ketogenic diet with 99% of my patients (note: in some quite rare instances such a diet is not suitable, so please check with a qualified practitioner before implementing any form of it). My professional website is www.anyadutton.com.
