What we're about

I have decided to set up this group for any one who is aged 60 or over and of Caribbean descent., having said that if you are not quite 60 but would still like to join, you can apply.

PLEASE NOTE THAT YOU WILL BE EXPECTED TO PROVIDE A FACE PICTURE OF YOURSELF WHEN APPLYING TO JOIN THIS GROUP. APPLICATIONS WITHOUT, WILL BE DECLINED

There are hundreds of interesting Meet Up groups but a large number seem to be aimed at people in the younger age brackets and so by starting this group I hope to meet people in my age range ; who have similar interests to myself.

So, if you want to get out of the house, go places, such as days trips by coach, or train , weekend breaks or even holidays abroad then this is the group for you; I'm hoping our visits will include trips to the theatre, cinema, eating out, visits to museums, exhibitions etc.

I would also very much welcome suggestions so please contact me with your ideas for places to go, things to do.

Many of our events and activities will naturally involve travelling on public transport, just so you are aware if you are over 60 you can apply for the following if you have not already done so.

1. Oyster Card ( 60+)

Over 60, living in London but have not reached State Retirement Age ? You can apply for Oyster Card This will enable you to travel free of charge on London Underground and Overground, and on some National Rail routes, this is valid for travel during Off - Peak periods, Weekends, Public and Bank Holidays. There is a one - off charge of £10 you can apply at any Station or Online via the TfL website. The Oyster Card (60+) is valid until you reach State Retirement Age when you will be entitled to apply for a "Freedom Pass".

2. Senior Railcard

This is available to all over 60's and will entitle you to a 1/3 off the cost of First Class or Standard Class tickets and can be used to travel anywhere in the country. Applications can be made on line via National Rail, or by visiting any National Rail station.

3. National Express Coachcard

Save 1/3 on Standard fares any time, the cost is £10 a year plus £2 p&p, It can pay for itself after just one trip. Peak and Off peak travel times. Includes public holidays, bank holidays and weekends.

Hope you find this information helpful,

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any queries.

I look forward to meeting with you soon.
