What are your tech skills? (only if you are a techy)

Have been a long-time proponent of Agile methodologies like Scrum and Test Driven development. Mainly programmed in Java, as well as quite a lot of perl early on. Reasonable amount of linux sys admin experience as well. Lots of work with databases - mainly Mysql and Sybase. Specialised for a long period in Lucene and Solr search technologies. Most systems I've worked on have been related to internet technologies and systems.

What do you think about climate change?

I've got two children, currently 1 and 3 (in 2013). I'm worried that if I do nothing and what the scientists say comes true my children will be thinking seriously about not having children when they get to my age. I want them to see that I did something to try to prevent that. And if we do prevent or limit climate change I want to have been part of the movement of people that prevented it. Climate change can be looked at in lots of ways. It can seem depressing, but I like to see us as people in a unique position in history - a position where we have the ability and the technology to turn things round. We're lucky to be living in that time and with that exciting opportunity to make such a big difference.

I've been a programmer for 15 years, working in a small company that uses Agile methodologies to develop internet software. I enjoy coding in my day to day job, but want a new challenge and to meet and work with new people through CCCoders.
