Following on from the success our first two talks we are back with our third instalment on the 4th October, hosted by the wonderful SapientRazorfish and eToro (http://www.etoro.com/)

This month we once again have the brilliant Angus Maidment, a professional cryptocurrency trader and supercomputer programmer, giving us a brief recap of how blockchains came about, and then asking "How smart are smart contracts?". The answer is "it depends". He will talk us through what smart contracts are and what we can use them for.

Joining him on stage will Maria McKavanagh from Verv, who are in the midst of a very interesting project to use blockchain technology to share energy amongst consumers. She will talk us through why they’ve chosen to use blockchain and the trials and tribulations of how they have managed to avoid coming foul of any regulations.

Then we will have a talk from Matthew Newton, one of eToro's senior account managers. He looks after the accounts of our top crypto traders and has a lot of knowledge in this space in general. Matthew will talk about the different types of ways to start trading and include the exchanges like Kraken etc. to have an objective view on your options.

Finally, we will have Alastair Clegg, UX and CX expert for Aioi Nissay Dowa Insurance Europe. He is a published academic having written a paper entitled "Could Bitcoin Be A Financial Solution For Developing Economies?" whilst studying at the University of Birmingham. Alastair's talk is entitled "The UX of Cryptocurrency".

Crytocurrencies are in the early stages of adoption. To be more widely adopted, cryptocurrency businesses need to address real user needs. This talk will discuss user needs for cryptocurrency and how we can address them.
