The Scientific Facts Behind Internet Addiction Disorder, by Dr Henrietta Bowden-Jones

Dr Henrietta Bowden-Jones, the Founder and Director of the National Problem Gambling Clinic in London is a consultant Psychiatrist with an interest in the neuroscience of addiction. In her talk, the audience will be able to self assess the extent of their internet activity using diagnostic criteria for internet addiction and the social implications of using the internet excessively will be discussed.

Addiction: Drugs of Abuse, Gambling and the Brain

Professor Anne Lingford-Hughes

Anne Lingford-Hughes is Professor of Addiction Biology at Imperial College and a Consultant Psychiatrist at Central North West London NHS Foundation Trust. She will describe how drugs of abuse, including alcohol, affect the brain, and how the brain processes reward, impulsivity and stress. By studying other addictions like gambling, she hopes to understand more about the nature of addiction to help inform developments in prevention and treatment of addictive disorders.

      No paypal use as then someone else will have to transfer the money for you. Please keep in mind that this is a free voluntary Club and we do not have a budget to pay administrators to process money or do other admin tasks. All organisers are volunteers who do not get paid for researching, spotting, writing up, organizing and hosting the events. Please do not create extra work for them, but try to assist them so they can have a pleasant experience and actually meet people.
