Who would have expected to find stock car races in the UK... We're lucky that one race track is in London :-) They do quite a lot of races during the winter months. On the day when we will go, there will be the following races
Bangers: The limited contact Banger formula is designed to tempt you, the spectator off the terrace and onto the track for the first time. The cost and preparation are kept to a minimum in the Bangers. The cars used are all generally standard cars, with the radiator being kept within the engine bay preventing any 'heavy' contact, although there is still enough contact to keep the spectator interested!
2.0 Hot Rods: Hot Rods are the absolute pinnacle of the non-contact oval racing classes in the world. A full field of Hot Rod racing within the confines of a quarter mile oval has been compared to "jet fighters in a gymnasium". A Spedeworth/Incarace 2 ltr Hot Rod is the stepping stone for those drivers aspiring to enter the National Hot Rods, with the costs vastly reduced, reinforcing Spedeworth/Incarace's commitment to low cost racing. As with all Spedeworth/Incarace racing the engine, chassis and tyre choices are strictly limited.
Junior Rods: The Junior Rod formula is designed to encourage young drivers onto our circuits, to enjoy the atmosphere and thrills of driving on an oval. A non-contact formula for children aged 10 up until their 16th birthday.
Super stox: The Superstox formula is Spedeworth's oldest. In fact it was this formula that Spedeworth was founded upon over 40 years ago. Like the organisation itself the cars have come a long way, although the very essence of the class remains.
The Superstox car is a very fast, 2 litre Ford, purpose-built, single seater with full contact allowed, just to keep things interesting and to prevent any dawdling! Like most of the other oval track formulae, the fastest cars on the grid start at the back, so those bumpers are rarely out of action.
Whilst contact is allowed, the formula is not banger racing of any sort so a high degree of dexterity is required by the driver intent on winning, without a big accident occurring, which occurs occasionally, of course!
Tickets for the races costs £15. Tickets can only be bought at the gate. The races start at 17:30. We'll meet at 17:00 at the main entrance to the race track. Call me at[masked] if you arrive later.
There is a heated indoor area if it gets too cold outside
London European Club is run by dedicated volunteers, who don't have time to waste with people who don't show up at events. If you don't show up to three events that you have RSVPed to, you will be banned from the Club. Changing your RSVP in the last 24 hours prior to the event is strongly discouraged and may result in an immediate ban.
