The Day-Mer 22nd annual cultural and arts festival is taking place on Sunday, 3rd July in Clissold Park.
The multi-cultural event is now the longest running festival in the borough, and in the Turkish and Kurdish community in London. This year Haluk Levent, one of the best Turkish rock musicians will be performing at the festival. Haluk Levent born November 26, 1968 in Adana Turkey is one of the most famous artists in the Anatolian mountains, and has a distinct genre that combines the fusion of Turkish rock and folk music. In his relatively short artistic career, he has already put out 13 albums kept close to[masked] concerts wrote two books, has won hundreds of awards and continues to be one of the dominant forces in Turkish rock. This year's Park Festival will also host the prominent Kurdish musician, Rojda Aykoç, who reached international headlines in 2010 when she was arrested and sentenced to 1 year in prison after she publicly performed a folk song in the Kurdish language in Diyarbakir.
There will also be stalls from various organisations giving out information, bookstalls and selling traditional food and drinks. Come along and have fun.
The festival is free, but please bring some cash for the tasty food that will be sold in the park.
