Heart-breaking and moving Palme d’Or winner at the Cannes Film Festival, Blue is the Warmest Colour tells the passionate love story of two young women in contemporary France.
Blue is the Warmest Colour (Dir: Abdellatif Kechiche , 2013, France, Cert: 18, 179 min). Based on the graphic novel of the same name, this insightful and beautifully shot drama follows the sexual awakening of a young French woman who meets the blue haired Emma and falls in love. The sex scenes in the movie provided some controversy but were a minor point in a film which was unanimously acclaimed by a broad cross section of the media and was awarded the Palme d’Or at Cannes.
