London Haskell @ Habito (with added PureScript)
This month London Haskell is going on tour to Habito, the main sponsor of our Christmas Quiz 2017. We'll be heading on over to their offices in Whitechapel for some food, drink and most importantly, talks! For this instalment we have not one, but two talks, lasting around 30 minutes each. Schedule: 6:30 -- Doors open; food, drink and chatter. 7:00 -- Tom Harding, Habito: Performant Incremental UI Rendering with PureScript Virtual DOMs are spreading quickly, and it's easy to see why: we just say what we want, and let the diffing engine work out how to get there. This is great, but we do end up wasting a lot of time computing the same chunks over and over. In this talk, we'll look at an approach to designing declarative UIs with incremental rendering, removing the need for a virtual DOM entirely, and see how this can better help with more rapidly-updating front-end applications. About the speaker: Tom writes Haskell and PureScript for Habito, fan fiction for open source contributors, and types for great good. 7:30 -- Will Jones, Habito: TBC 8:00 -- Wrap up and move to a local pub
