Christmas drinks

It's becoming an annual tradition! Bring Christmas accessories and ornaments - the geekier the better - LEDs, 3D-printed baubles, santa robots, for our Christmas paparazzi.

Oh yes, and come, eat, drink and by merry with some lovely people.

Here's the food fight idea. How to have an ICT4D debate and make it more fun, more than a discussion forum.

Does anyone have a good suggestion for a platform that is not totally serious but also is also semi-structured ?

I'd like to avoid something like Google+ people don't want to feel overcreeped by having their private lives on show. I also am not so keen on using Reddit - not structured / fun enough for me + too many flamers / drongos..

So here is a quick list of alternatives: - http://meevsu.com/ (bad interface much to be honest )
    - http://www.quibl.com/ ( seems pretty rigid)
    - http://www.deliberator.com/ ( a good one but being rebuilt)

I quite like Lettucedebate.com because it involves actual food references. You can use food to indicate your feelings about the debate - technically a food fight :) What you do you reckon ? Here is an example:

    Any other suggestions ?

Hi Guys, looking forward to seeing everyone. Here's another open data stat and a link to chew on.

A recent report from Mckinsey & Company notes that open data can help unlock $3 trillion to $5 trillion in economic value worldwide annually across seven distinct sectors. http://civsourceonline.com/2013/12/16/san-francisco-approves-open-data-standard/

Yes, well they tend to be pretty good at being on the money. I think the tough question for people in develpoment is not if it is helping unlock that little pot of gold - that is pretty clear. What might it help people to acheive otherwise though? A quick wishlist might include hoping for better and more participatory arrangements for democracy and accountability, improved sustainability and efforts to tackle rising inequality and include the most marginalised groups in decision making. How could that 3 trillion be politically leveraged to be 'unlocked' on the condition of it being directed via efforts to foster this sort of more 'inclusive growth'...I'd definitely pay Mckinsey to write a report on that :)

I would like to suggest that we talk about partnerships and how to "hack" existing events in London in 2014.
