The Mindfulness Based Living Course (MBLC) is one of only six courses listed on the UK Network for Approved Mindfulness-Based Teachers. It was designed by the Mindfulness Association who are one of the affiliate organisations of the UK network and it is based on their One Year Mindfulness Training programme.

The Mindfulness Based Living Course is designed to provide a strong foundation and understanding of Mindfulness Practice that helps to enhance a persons living experience and promote a sense of well being regardless of the situation.

The Mindfulness Based Living Course has been specifically designed to help anyone regardless of their psychological, physical or emotional situation and indeed is suitable for both those who are not suffering from any significant issues as well as those who may be experiencing difficulty.

As such, we consider the Mindfulness Based Living Course to be one of the only available mindfulness courses that is not attached or targeted to any form of stigma or illness. Therefore we considered this 8 week programme to be the most open and accessible to everyone both inside or outside of a medical treatment or healthcare setting.

It is an eight week course consisting of eight classes, which are typically two or two and half hours long, preceded by an introductory class before the eight week course begins and concluded by a follow up class after the eight week course ends. A day of Mindfulness practice is also typically included between weeks 6 and 7.

Week 1 – Start Where We Are

Week 2 – The Body as a Place to Stay Present

Week 3 – Introducing Mindfulness Support

Week 4 – Working with Distraction

Week 5 – Exploring the Undercurrent

Week 6 – Attitude of the Observer

Day of Practice

Week 7 – Self-acceptance

Week 8 – A Mindfulness Based Life

Follow Up – The Rest of Your Life

The sessions are run by authentic practitioners who have been committed to their own mindfulness practice for at least 5 years or more, as well as teaching mindfulness to the wider community. Each of the leading facilitators are in year three of the Masters Degree in Mindfulness Studies offered by the University of Aberdeen and the Mindfulness Association. We also follow the UK Network of Mindfulness Teachers Guidelines and continue a detailed CPD programme that includes gaining cherished teachings from the Authentic Tibetan Buddhist Kagyu Lineage and Samye Ling and Samye Dzong Monastery's, The Mindfulness Association and Oxford Mindfulness Centre.
