What we're about

We are an environmental conservation group, who perform practical conservation work on National Trust properties at weekends, throughout England and Wales.

One of a number of similar National Trust volunteer groups around the country, we are unique in offering weekends away at a variety of different properties and locations across the UK. We also offer day tasks at properties within London and the South East.

Free accommodation is provided on our weekend trips. Help with transport can be provided to those members without their own car.

Countryside conservation volunteering at Hunter Basecamp, Haslemere

Come and stay at Swan Barn Farm just outside Haslemere in Surrey. There are currently 10 people booked to come to this event. The weather is looking good and it will be a lovely weekend outside, working in the beautiful South Downs for the long Bank Holiday weekend. The weekend starts on Friday night, when everyone arrives. You'll need to supply your own meal for Friday night or there will be a visit to a pub in Haslemere. On Saturday and Sunday we'll be working with staff to carry out countryside conservation work, normally from about 9am-4pm. On Monday we'll be working from about 9am-1pm, before a lunch back in the basecamp, a quick clean up and then time to head home. The weekend costs £22. The cost of the weekend includes breakfast on Saturday, Sunday and Monday, a packed lunch and evening meal on Saturday and Sunday and a cold lunch on Monday. If you are arriving by public transport it is a short walk from the station to the basecamp, or we can meet you in the pub and help carry your bags the rest of the way after dinner on Friday night. There are currently nightjars on the heathland where we will be working and we are hoping to organise a walk to hear them churring one evening over the weekend.
