    Tuesday 13th, 19:00, Cafe 1001 Brick Lane.

You'd have to have been living in a hole to have missed the (what some might say, unfortunate) events that took place in the last few months of 2016: first, the UK's decision to exit from the E.U. followed by the somewhat shocking election of Donald Trump as President of the United States.

To many people, 2016 sounds like a bit of joke, a bad movie or dream you want to wake up from. But these things have happened and the world needs to look forward to the new reality it's facing.

Funzing ThinkTap are proud to invite you along to a fascinating evening rich with debate, discussion and analysis, led by two high profile political figures, who will examine the alliances and connections between these two high profile events and the reasons for these unexpected outcomes.

Denis MacShane, a British former Labour Party politician, a former BBC journalist and the man whose book Brexit: How Britain Will Leave Europe published in January 2015.

Tim Montgomerie is a British political activist, blogger and columnist and former comment editor for The Times. On 17 February 2016, Montgomerie resigned his membership of the Conservative Party, citing the current leadership's stance on Europe, which has been supportive of EU membership.

Montgomerie has been described as "one of the most important Conservative activists of the past 20 years"and in February 2012, The Observer said that "In the eyes of most MPs, Montgomerie [is] one of the most influential Tories outside the cabinet."
