FREE: Pick Your Own fresh fruit & veg – a day out at Parkside Farm! 31 Aug

A relaxing day out at the "Pick Your Own" fruit and veg Parkside Farm, Middlesex! Not only you get the freshest fruit, but it also tastes so much better if you’ve picked it yourself : )

This event is being co-hosted with Adventure Go!,the other Meetup group that I run.

Parkside farm has been a family business since 1938, and have started with Pick-Your-Own crops over 30 years ago (1979.). They are now growing about 20 different crops on some 50 acres!
It was voted the national ‘Pick-your own Farm of the Year’ 2011 by the National Farmers’ Retail & Markets Association (FARMA).

In August, we can expect to be picking strawberries, blackberries plums, and maybe raspberries!

Expected vegetable crops: sweetcorn, tomatoes, squashes, courgettes, broad beans, French beans, spinach, onions and beetroot.

Meetup cost: FREE There is no Meetup organisers' fee for this event! No shows will be recorded.
Please note, the farm has a minimum charge of £3 fruit/veg bought on the day. This in not an entrance fee, and most of us will be picking fruit & veg far in excess of £3.

Meetup date: Saturday 31 August 2013

Meetup time & place:

a) 10.30am at the entrance to the Parkside Farm, Hadley Road, Enfield, Middlesex, EN2 8LA

b) 10.00am at Gordon Hill train station, zone 5 . It is on the Letchworth to Moorgate line, and passes through Finsbury Park, which links up to the tube network.
We will then walk from the station to the farm (just over 1 mile), and meet with the rest of the group at the entrance.

Note: please plan your journey - there are only 2 trains an hour going from Finsbury park to Gordon hill!

Travelling by car: Parkside Farm is in Hadley Road, which runs between Chase Farm Hospital on the A 1005 (Enfield Ridgeway) and West Lodge Hotel on the A111 (Cockfosters Road)

If you are late, and miss the meeting time, just go in, pick your fruit and veg, and meet us 12 - 1pm at the farm's picnic area (just next to the main entrance).

What to bring:
- sensible footwear – the farm can be very muddy
- waterproofs
- sunscreen/hat/sunglasses
- water
- money for picked fruit & veg and any refreshments
- sandwich/picnic lunch

There is a shop on site selling cold drinks and ice-creams, but there’s no café to buy food. So bring your own picnic/sandwiches and we’ll meet at 12 noon at the farm's picnic area to have a light lunch and enjoy some of our freshly picked fruit!

Hey Guys, looks good but can't make it. I'm going to be a bit cheeky, but I'm building a website that helps travellers meet locals for a local experience. If any of you have a spare 5 mins I would really appreciate if you could fill it in:
