What we're about

Are you searching for happiness? Trying to forgive the past? Learning to love yourself? Or simply aiming for more truth and meaning in your life? Many of us are, and many of us are trying to learn the way together. Let's support each other on our paths.

Every Saturday we gather at Essex Unitarian Church near Notting Hill tube in London (even if an event is not posted here!). We have lectures and discussions on ways to find more truth and meaning in our daily lives.

Our meetings are spiritual and we talk about God, the universe, our ancestors, and love. But It is suited to everyone exploring a deeper aspect of life, thinking of a spiritual path of healing, or seeking more comfort in life.

Our meetings are free of charge and open to all religions and ways of thinking, we are not a religion ourselves and our attendees come from many different backgrounds and countries. Join us, you are very welcome!

In our meetings, we will introduce you to Seicho No Ie. We often discuss the teachings of Seicho No Ie that man is a child of God and that our words and thoughts create our physical world.

What Seicho-No-Ie teaches is not new; yet it has the capacity to satisfy one's inner urging for something more out of life.

It was founded in Japan in 1930 by Reverend Masaharu Taniguchi who, through his deep concern over the many contradictions in life, dedicated many years of intensive study to different philosophies and religions, until one day, while in deep meditation, he received the divine inspirations that were to form the basis for the Truth of Life Movement.

After receiving these inspirations, Rev. Taniguchi began spreading the teachings to others. Many miraculous healings took place; people recovered from various diseases, including cancer and tuberculosis. Others found harmony and prosperity after listening to or reading his inspired teachings.

Rev. Taniguchi's message is simple, direct, and it can change lives. His main theme is that each of us can reach spiritual fulfillment when we come to realize the God consciousness within us. Our lives are meant to be harmonious, joyful, and fulfilling in all aspects. Through the power of the mind, we can greatly improve our environment and physical condition by replacing our negativism with positive thoughts and belief

We can become awakened to the true divinity which lies within us through a method of prayerful meditation called Shinsokan, which is taught at the various Truth of Life Centers. As Christ said, "The kingdom of God is within," and the practice of Shinsokan is a method to make this statement a living reality.

*Seicho-No-Ie (Say-choh No Ee-yay) means "The Home of Infinite Life, Wisdom and Abundance"

Celebrate our Roots: Memorial Service for Ancestors

Essex Unitarian Church,

Ancestors Memorial Service held last Saturday of every month in London You are warmly invited to attend the Ancestors Memorial Service at 6.30pm in the Essex Unitarian Church in Notting Hill Gate. This special ceremony will be conducted by one of our speakers and lecturers. This service is carried out in Portuguese, with simultaneous translation into English. Why Do We Memorialize Our Ancestors? We are all children of God. Although our physical bodies become old/sick and die, our real selves never die. Therefore, we memorialize these spirits which are indestructible and deathless. Even though our physical lives are over, and our physical bodies are cremated and become ashes, our individual souls still continue their activities in the spiritual world. We do not become nothing when we die. In the Divine Message of Return of the Soul to the Spiritual World it states:“ All people must someday lose their physical body, but they do not die. Man is a child of God and therefore deathless. The form of your temporary existence will change according to your thought’s musical score. The temporary existence of all people will differ according to the differences in their thought. When a major change occurs in the form of your thought your temporary existence will manifest itself in another world and your physical body—the manifestation of your thoughts until now—will quickly disintegrate. People call this ‘death,’ but it is not death. It is as if Life has finished the performance of one musical composition on the strings of thought and turned to another.” Our true selves which are children of God will never die; therefore, from the standpoint of the True-Image World, death means just an end of one performance by a child of God. He begins another performance in a different time and place.
