The Telegraph will be hosting this month's meetup.

Talk 1:

BuddyPress core developer Paul Gibbs will be talking about how the Telegraph uses WordPress.

Talk 2:

WordPress and Web Accessibility: Why it's Important

by Graham Armfield

Do you know if everyone can access your websites successfully? Like to learn some techniques that can help with that? This presentation will cover some issues that disabled and elderly users experience with websites, then talk about steps that we all can take to improve accessibility - and why it makes business sense.

Really interesting presentation about Telegraph setup. (Unfortunately) I knew about 90% of the accessibility stuff, but it was well presented and hopefully was useful to others. Timing was awkward - can we start more promptly next time (or advertise a later start time)? I might have been able to make it to the pub too then. Also a shame there wasn't more time at the end for questions/discussion.

Hello everyone, was great to see you all yesterday and catch up with some people from WordCamp in Portsmouth!
If I'm allowed to say it here, we are looking for an enthusiastic wordpress developer to join our team full-time. Drop me an email to [masked] if this is of interest. Thanks. Ilona

Really useful - great insight from Paul on TMG's use of Wordpress and especially the use of MS and BuddyPress. Graham's accessibility presentation was one of the most useful I've been too.
    Thanks to all involved.

I'm personally guilty of not using the :focus pseudo class properly with regards to navigation and :hover interaction. It's not difficult to implement either, so big thanks to Graham for highlighting it.

Thanks to Paul, Graham, Richard, Chris and everyone who attended for making last night such a success. Hopefully we behaved well enough to be allowed back to the Telegraph for future meetups.

What a nice group of people. Really enjoyed the setting, interesting presentation and the chance to chat with developers afterward at the pub was a great networking opportunity.

Andy, adding tab visibility to match your hover effects is usually just a case of using the :focus pseudo class. However to ensure compatibility with older versions of IE it's necessary to include the :active pseudo class too.

The correct order for the pseudo classes in your CSS should be:
    :link :visited :hover :active :focus

Skip links are a really useful feature - especially on pages where the navigation comes first and/or there are many links.

I had a look at my test site this morning and noticed that my menu did not show when you tabbed through it. A quick google got me quickly to the CSS :focus selector which in turn sent me to another interesting link.

Folks, there are 23 people on the waiting list to this meetup. If you aren't going to make it please change your RSVP. For security reasons, only people on the list will be admitted. Thanks.
