Croydon Film Festival Entry - CALL FOR CREW!

From: Keziah M.
Sent on: Monday, January 11, 2010 10:30 PM
Hello everyone,

The First ever Croydon film festival has called for submissions of short films on the theme of PASSION. I've come up with an idea and am getting a crew together. I'm currently looking for somebody who has camera/sound equipment and who would shoot the film over a couple of days. It would be ideal for a student/someone starting out or wanting to add to their showreel as I'm unable to pay anybody!

Please get in touch ASAP as the submission deadline is 26th Feb! I'm going to organise a meeting next week for those who are interested in helping out so that we can formulate an action plan..

Have a look at the info below and if you like the sound of it, get in touch :)

Here is a summary of the idea:

Format: Short Film, Documentary

Main topic: PASSION of street preachers (in Croydon if possible) - (Street Preachers are often spotted in Croydon and the majority of Croydon inhabitants will have come across them on several occasions!)

Title: Cross between Manic Street Preachers/ Passion of the Christ?!

Qualities: Spiritual, height metaphors, religious symbolism. The energy , fever and passion of the preachers and those of faith, fast shifting between shots. Open with audible shouting of a preacher against visuals of a calm, bleak and disinterested croydon its scenes and its people.

Themes: Basic info about street preachers, the whats, whys, whens, wheres. Perhaps, either told in interviews or as titles on the screen.
The Story of a street preacher - follow a preacher from preparing for the day up until preaching on the street. Chance for the preacher to explain their passion.
Vox Props from respected local religious leaders airing their views, scenes from churches, they could be contrasted with the less subtle passions of the preachers.
Contrast of local general public and their reactions, dispassionate faces, not interested in the preachers, pass them off as loony.

Soundtrack has to be original and not available in shops so I suggest we ask a local Croydon band - I knew several!
