Tuesday night gaming

If you are new to London on Board check out this guide for new players. If you have any questions on the night or are having trouble getting into a game, then look out for the night's host, listed to the right.

If you plan on attending please RSVP. We only have 50 chairs and it gets uncomfortable for everyone if more people than that turn up. Similarly, please change your RSVP to no if it turns out you can't make it.

Attention! LoB is part of NineWorlds, a weekend-long, multi-genre convention in London this summer, August 9th-11th, "the mutant hybrid of a science fiction convention crossed with a TED talks conference". It's full of: film and film-making, Doctor Who, science, feminism, Tolkien, SF&F academia, video games, roleplaying, Discworld, social gaming, SF&F,creative writing, Star Wars, queer fandom, steampunk, open culture, Star Trek, Whedon, skepticism, costuming, comics, anime and J-culture. And boardgaming of course. Get along to the forums for details and a longer discussion. Advance tickets on sale for a discount now.

    Ace.

I can't remember the name of that shouting game where you need to shout examples of things. Twas good fun, though replayability seems limited. Cash'n'Guns with Ben, Maria, David, Liam, Mary. Miam v Mary, David, Maria. Coup v Mary, David, Maria, Tamas, Jo. Nuns on the run with Gabi, Jo, Maria and Lindsay. All great fun! Good to meet/see y'all!

Mary, because of your settings I can't e-mail the link I mentioned. Sorry.

Gabi, sorry if I was a negative arse after NotR. I'll pay you back ASAP.

Sadly, couldn't stay long. But enjoyed a first half-play of Android: Netrunner, and enjoyed it, even if unable to complete the game. Seems a lot of fun: bluffing, tricky card play, and oozing theme. Looking forward to playing a few more games of it soon. Thanks, Soren!

    March 19, 2013

    • Soren V.

Thanks for teaching it. It was great to finally trying it.

Android: Netrunner - Great to finally get to try this, although it is certainly not a game for me. Get the most out of a random stream of cards with lots of special powers, plus blind bluffing and outguessing. It may be great if you are are into deck construction or think handling the randomness is a fun puzzle.
    .....
Kemet - Still very good. For some reason significantly longer this time. Some new crazy combos: my minimalist aggressive flash mob which was destroyed again and again (but ended up second); not least because of Paul's lethal army whose dying corpses would destroy you even when they lost; and Csilla's insanely pimped up army with ~15 special power tiles which scored lots of points the final turn for a runaway victory.

I will bring Kemet again. Alternatively, I am also happy to bring and play Imperial.

No Tuesday meetup next week and I cannot do Monday - and Wednesday I will probably go to Isleworth Boardgamers.

Great fun, could have been anyone's game last turn. Turn order that turn was crucial!

Finally got to a session. And in my old haunting ground from 17 years ago when I first started work too. Got a great game of Agricola in which I screwed up in the first few opening rounds.
Great atmosphere. Will bring the wife next time and maybe grind out a Twilight victory.

Thank you to our group that played that German district game (I forget the name but interesting and good mechanics - plus I got to play orange). And to Vika and Richard for the Carcassonne game plus our Citadels gang at the end.

    March 19, 2013

    • Stuart (.

Gosh, how could I have forgotten the monster-mashing King Of Tokyo game too (I was the gracefully losing Kraken)?

      March 20, 2013

  • Steve S.

Cheers guys, enjoyed my first ever LoB session. Fantastic to be amongst so many great games all being played by so many people, all at once! Looking forward to more gaming with you.

I've just picked up Android: Netrunner, and am anxious to give it a try. Any takers? Seems fast playing.

    March 18, 2013

    • Jacob T.

Cannot now - in case you saw my hopeful post.

      March 19, 2013

    • Mike

Pity! Well, maybe another time--if you're around at one of this weekend's sessions, I'll be bringing it then as well.

    Yay i'm in!!!!

First timer, would love to learn some of the games (They look super interesting)

Can anyone volunteer to help me?

    Thanks in advance.

    • Robin B.

I am the host tonight. Come and find me and I will try and help you out. But anyone will help. For almost all the games we play, someone at the table won't have played before so there is always teaching and learnign going on.

Knew I was being too hopeful. Next week much more realistic.

  • Edward M.

If anyone's willing to bring it along I'd be interested in trying the original Imperial.

    March 13, 2013

    • Edward M.

I'm afraid I'm not going to make it after all.

      March 18, 2013

    • Soren V.

Ok, then I will not bring Imperial as it is very heavy.

      March 19, 2013

  • Stuart (.

Will bring Carcassonne, Citadels and Zombie Dice along. Have been very organized and separated my Carcassonne's expansion tiles as some of my previous games have been of epic length (I could play Carcassonne all day but not everybody has my tile-laying stamina). Still, would like to use the mayor, pig, cloth/wine/grain and cathedral rules. (Not too hot about the barn, wagon or builder.)

May be a bit late as I want to miss the rain.

I'm happy to play whatever with whoever is waiting for a game when I arrive :) But (and I think I asked this the last time I tried come along and failed early last year) I wonder are there often any more abstract games on show? e.g. no cards, dice or any other luck devices ~~

    March 15, 2013

    • Bijmeister

Ah, I cannot do on Tuesday as (I) playing Kemet and (ii) board at folks but I can bring along next week.

I am a virgin to LOB, so a bit nervous! Seems like it will be a very busy game night, hopefully someone will have a spare space at their table. I am very keen to learn a new game and I don't mind playing anything!

    March 17, 2013
