Board Games on Saturday

  • Nov 2, 2013 · 11:00 AM
  • This location is shown only to members

Every week, London-on-Board hits The Old Star pub in Westminster for a few pints, some good pub grub, and of course, lots and lots of board games.

We're immediately across the road from St. James' Park tube station, so it really can't get more convenient, and we're normally there for 9 solid hours of gaming goodness!!!

Newbies especially welcome and if you get there at 11:00 a.m. prompt, you're most likely to not have to wait around to hop into a game straight-away.

RSVP's for all weekend events open up approximately two weeks before the event itself.

Special Note: If you're a gamer visiting London from abroad, and would like to attend one of our meetups, send a message to one of the organisers (Jeff or Martin) with the dates you are in London and we'll make sure you get a slot at one of our upcoming events.

Really enjoyed BSG, thanks to Jason for bringing and teaching! And thanks to Shez for bringing Arkham although it was a bit rushed trying to finish it in time!

I'm in Essen now and I'm bringing back a few games to play :)
Anyone wants to play Caverna? Looking for 3 people who already know Agricola (since many rules are the same and it would make the explanation easier for everyone).

I'd really love to try playing Caverna. What time are you thinking of playing?

I'll be there at 11 and see if there will be others for playing. I'll bring also Prosperity.

Anyone for trying out any of the following: Andean Abyss (centered around the Colombian insurgency in the 1990s), Cuba Libre (centered around Castro's cuban revolution in the 1950s) or A Distant Plain (centered around the Afghan insurgency in the 2000s)? They all use the same system, which is (relatively) easy to learn: each plays 4 players, with each side playing completely differently and with each having different winning conditions. Gameplay centers around both affecting the map, using events to your advantage (as represented by cards) and making deals with the other players. Newbies are welcome and it's a relatively easy to teach/learn game (although learning the rules in advance will be useful) but keep in mind that the games can be rather long. Cuba Libre is the shortest of the 3, with Andean Abyss/A Distant Plain taking longer depending on the scenario chosen. Let me know if anyone is interested.

I'll be bringing treasures from Essen. Not sure yet, depends on what rules I read! Definitely brining Palmyra, string savannah and Wooolf!. Might bring Concordia or Bruges.

It's very easy to pickup, so you'll be fine. It's another game I own, but always do badly at! :-)
