Wednesday Night Gaming at The Mad Hatter

If you are new to London on Board check out this guide for new players. If you have any questions on the night or are having trouble getting into a game, then look out for the night's host, listed to the right.

If you plan on attending please RSVP. We only have 40 chairs and it gets uncomfortable for everyone if more people than that turn up. Similarly, please change your RSVP to no if it turns out you can't make it.

We won't have access to the games library so please bring games if you are able to.

Have fun.

Hi! I would like to bring a very very difficult (but fun) game with me. Will there be anyone who would be willing to give it a go?

    April 9, 2014

    • Laszlo K

Ah, it's on Wikipedia under "Shogi": http://en.wikipedia.o...
I also found a page that says Tsuitate is the variant when you play on 2 boards and can't see what the other player is doing (so a 3rd person is required to announce whether intended moves are legal).

can you give me the link to where you've found tuitate description? I didn't know there was one. I just found that online server and started playing with a half empty board! (which was not really empty just invisible to me!)

    Shall I bring Agricola?

BIJMEISTER:: my apologies for starting with a different group from that agreed above. I was glad when you signed up, and I'd been looking forward to it. It won't happen again. LASZLO:: thank you for your patience and for making it a quality game! As Dan said, he'll sort you out with a challenging table in June. MAX:: your boundless optimism about the full game turned out to be well justified; that was a brilliant game for a first-timer (now you just need to master carpet trading lol!)

Thank you all for the game, it was fun! I look forward to being thrashed in June. :) And Max, congrats from me too, I don't know anyone else who made more than (or even close to) 30 points the first time they played Agricola.

    April 10, 2014

Long but rewarding game of Lords Of Waterdeep, (sorry it was a bit cramped and only played with the Undermountain but was a full night so didn't want to push two tables together. Maybe next time table space willing?) Then Carcassonne and Marrakech.

In Carcassonne Mike wouldn't let me use the Phantom but impressed me by knowing the going rate for a meeple.

Kakerlakenpoker royal and Village + Village Inn :)

I had a great time, Assassin's Creed was first and I was butchered while innocently standing on a roof-top waiting to assassinate someone! I then played Alien Frontiers, which I had played once before, but had forgotten how much I liked it and ended up with Carcassonne : South Seas, which I'm claiming a win by 2/3rds of a point! :). It really does put a twist on Carcassonne, a refreshing change :). Thanks one and all :)

    ANOTHER GREAT NIGHT!!! :D :D :D :D :D Played Agricola followed by Marrakech, both of which were very enjoyable!!! :D :D :D :D :D

Warmed up with Kakerlaken Poker, then onto Assassin's Creed. The latter turned out to be surprisingly short; just got into it when Jacob stormed to victory. Then a v. enjoyable game of Alien Frontiers (with one previous play between the other 3 players) and I *still* didn't win. Ended with Carcassonne South Seas which made a fun change from the 'standard' version.

Anyone I played with tonight- I'm really sorry but I seem to have come down with the flu! I was feeling hot all night but it wasn't til I left that I realised how bad I was feeling. So- wash your hands. Sanitize your meeples! And take some Vit C. And if I give it to anyone I'm really really sorry!

Although I am down for Assassins Creed with Rocky, I will also be bringing my newly acquired copy of Alien Frontiers if anyone fancies a go at some point in the evening?

    April 8, 2014

  • Francisco Burgos F.

I am thinking to buy Wrath of Ashardalon: D&D Boardgame, but i have never try it before, some has it and is able to bring it. I would like to try it. I am able to bring eclipse + expansion, if we can build a group of galactic entrepreneurs, up to 9 players, but I would recommend 4 or 5, in this way maybe we can finish the game XD.

    Hi all,

I'm a newbie to this group... is it OK if I drop by on Wednesday?

I'm around in London for a few weeks and would love to place a few meeples whilst I'm here. I'm a quick learner and happy to play anything (except for Agricola)

I can make it for 6:15 if that's OK?

So Caverna then :) (Welcome Graham, sign up to anything advertised here, or shout out if there is something you have been wanting to try. This is not our typical location so there wont be a library but people will bring a fair few games along.)

      April 6, 2014

Jacob, don't tease - its not nice! You know that's just Agricola Underground!

      April 7, 2014

  • Roger (.

If you did not make it to the Danger Zone, survived it or just could not be not be bothered, I'll bring 1889, Poseidon and CHIPS!
