Board Games on Sunday!

Every week, London-on-Board hits The Old Star pub in Westminster for a few pints, some good pub grub, and of course, lots and lots of board games.

We're immediately across the road from St. James' Park tube station, so it really can't get more convenient, and we're normally there for 9 solid hours of gaming goodness!!!

Newbies especially welcome and if you get there at 11:00 a.m. prompt, you're most likely to not have to wait around to hop into a game straight-away.

I would give Exodus another shot as well. Sure we can fix the fiddly bits...

Exodus was great. Article 27 was... well I played as the inscrutable Chinese and failed to make any diplomatic overtures. You know how corrupt the game was when I tell you the French won.

Great introduction to Exodus, that I hope to play again (better). Then Ze French took over the UN in Article 27 and easily established their supremacy using well known diplomatic skills! Hail the cheese eating Monkeys!

So now the meeting rating shows up as a comment.... as well add that I am ready for Twilight Imperium next!

I'll bring 3012, Glory to Rome and Smallworld with Realm extension (most probably).

Glory to Rome sounds fairly brutal, seeing as it's nearly Christmas. Count me in.

My brother and I will be here to play Game of Thrones and maybe learn one or two others. Let me known if you're interested.

    Recommendations please!
I am new to "serious" games but have enjoyed my first goes at Carcassonne, Puerto Rico, Stone Age, Dominion and Agricola (mainly at LoB). I played Risk a lot in days gone by. Would anyone like to suggest any others to try on Sunday (in time to add to my Christmas list!!)? I have seen 7 Wonders and Ticket to Ride recommended.
    Thanks, Graham

      Are you teaching it?

Battlestar Galactica plays most Sundays and is a different genre to sink your teeth into. That and other co-op games, or some of the more 'social interaction' style games, open up a different experience, that I find I'm starting to prefer: so Resistance, Citadels even liked Mall Horror last week.

Anyone interested in trying Exodus? I hear rumors it is the love child of Twilight Imperium the 3rd and Eclipse after a shot gun wedding, when daddy TI2 tracked down Eclipse and TIs cousin Rex and dragged them back from half way across the galaxy.

Happy to consider a later game if more people are interested.

Pouria, I would be interested as well, I plan to come earlier so hopefully I get to play something lighter first. All I've seen of it is a couple of reviews, but new game so I guess we are all learning (am a TI fan so I get the genre at least..)

Marten, surely there is no way to guarentee that. Afterall, there is nothing to stop one person getting a cylon card at the start and a second in the next set of cards. Heck, since gaeus draws 2 at the start, couldn't he end up with all 3 cylon cards?

      December 6, 2012

    • Marten W.

Will, if a player gets more Cylon cards, that player can always reveal as a Cylon, and then you immediately give your other cards to other players. As long as 3 Cylon cards are all dealt, the Cylons can make sure that there will be 3 Cylons.

Oops, I seem to have forgotten to actually RSVP in time D: Is there any way to join a queue or something so I can get in if someone drops out, or is it a case of checking back until a spot appears?
