New Year 2017 Collaboration and Songshare Workshop

  • January 8 · 12:30 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

Make a resolution that 2017 is a year to prioritise your songwriting with London Songwriters! Our New Year's workshop has something for every songwriter - from beginner to pro, hobbyist to commercial. Our regular attendees had notable successes in 2016 and this year will be no different!

You are welcome to join us for a fun and practical collaboration, networking and songshare session with useful songwriting tips to infuse and inform your writing - we always summarise the key elements of successful songs.

* Hone your collaboration skills, or try them out in an enjoyable and comfortably challenging 90-minute guided exercise illustrating aspects of songcraft and to a choice of genuine commercial opportunities. As always, we will also discuss the dynamics and process of co-writing, which can be beneficial to most writers and essential for those who are primarily lyricists or composers.

Below is a video showcase of songs written and then fully produced at our workshops:

* Get valuable, constructive feedback on your songs in a safe, friendly and supportive environment.

* Meet new friends and co-writers. Over the years many lyricists and composers have found working partners at London Songwriters.

This is a half day facilitated workshop. Please check the group reviews or any previous event comments to see how inspiring songwriters have found these sessions to be.

Thank you to everyone for their contributions to an enjoyable and productive session yesterday ☺ Super collaborative vibe with some potentially great pitchable songs. Lovely songshares with generous feedback. PM me if you don't receive a link to the collaboration recordings. See you next time! Murray

Hi Jim, once the collaboration is over at 2:45 people could go if they wish. I figured the 'official' end time of 4pm was ample time for everybody to get to where they're going by 6pm and I think Tottenham Court Road to Epping is about 45 mins....? Early leavers can share songs first etc. Kind Regards. Murray

Hi Murray. Any special arrangements for tomorrow's Meet-up as there is a planned tube strike starting at 18:00 tomorrow (Sunday)? The TfL advice is that all tube journeys should be completed by 18:00 tomorrow. This might make a 16:00 finish a bit tight as we might be heading out to Epping on the Central Line. We don't want to leave early but for safety's sake it be prudent for us. Will advise and discuss tomorrow.

Hi y'all...looking forward very much to tomorrow ☺ If you do play a portable accompaniment instrument (e.g. Gtr/Uke etc.) don't forget to bring it for the collaboration - otherwise pen/paper/smartphones etc. Please try to arrive at the start for the Brief if you can and we'll finish in good time if need be. Thanks! Murray
