• Lyric Writing: The Essential Guide!
This interactive presentation is the first part of our Songwriting Summary Series primarily aimed at beginner and intermediate songwriters. It will cover the essentials of Lyric Writing and you will learn the elements of what makes a great lyric as well as invaluable advice on how each of those elements contributes to a balanced whole. "Lovely to meet everyone and a fantastic talk. Full of useful information!" - comments from the most recent Songwriter Summary Series. It is a big subject and so will be split into two weekly sessions covering the interrelated aspects of Lyric Meaning and Lyric Form. There will be more than enough information for each week to stand alone. The price is discounted for this meetup group and tea, coffee and water will be provided free of charge. There are only 12 places available so please book in advance. Nearest tubes are Southwark, Waterloo or Blackfriars. Also, don't forget to register your interest for our 15% discounted all-inclusive 2019 Spring Peak District Retreat week here: http://www.londonsongwriters.org/songwritingretreats/

  • Songwriting for Film and TV
Join us for a practical Collaboration & Songshare Session featuring a choice of current paid Publisher & Music Supervisor opportunities. Some great songs have been written in our meetups, recorded to a professional standard and pitched for genuine commercial briefs. We will also cover essential information on songcraft and collaboration techniques, relevant to both commercial and non-commercial writing. 'Sync' (synchronisation) is one of the few ways of earning songwriting income these days and great songs from the heart in any genre are still the requisite - learn how to write and pitch for these opportunities. We have been running these small group collaboration sessions for 9 years and all lyricists, composers, singers, instrumentalists and producers of any experience are welcome. "Amazing!", "Thanks for a great workshop again! These are so valuable", "Great experience", "Really inspiring and effective" If there is time at the end of the afternoon we will also share our own individual songs for feedback in a safe, friendly and supportive environment. This is a half-day facilitated workshop. Check the group reviews (http://www.meetup.com/LondonSongwriters/about/comments/?op=all) and past events to see how inspiring songwriters have found these sessions to be.
