Come along on Saturday 31st August at either 1:45pm, 2:00pm or 2:15pm for a guided walk around Historic Dulwich!
We have 3 guides and we will be starting the walk in 15 minute gaps, so please indicate which time/guide you wish to go with when you RSVP. If you've never attended before, all three guides are extremely good and qualified Blue Badge Guides, so just choose a random time (when you RSVP it may come up as 1:45pm for the time to attend, but just ignore that and just come along at your chosen time).
About the walk
The area goes back over 1000 years and it's Anglo Saxon name; 'Dilwihs' meant 'meadow where the dill grew'. The area is known for Dulwich Picture Gallery & Dulwich College.
Explore a delightful south London village, we will hear how an actor's guilty conscience led to the foundation of almshouses and a famous school for boys.
View the art gallery which is also a mausoleum, see London's only remaining tollhouse, walk through two delightful parks and finish in a real London village street.
The best way to get to Dulwich is to get the train from Victoria Station, it's only a 12 minute journey and trains leave at 10, 25, 40 and 55 mins past the hour. West Dulwich is in Zone 3.
The walk is a private walk for the group, we will split into 3 groups and we will be guided by Rachel Kolsky (1:45pm), Diane Burstein (2:00pm) and Val Chris (2:15pm). It will last about 2 hours.
The cost for the guides is £7 per person for Full Member's of the group and £9 per person for non-Members. (payable on the day).
Afterwards we will be heading to the Crown & Greyhound pub, 73 Dulwich Village for a chat over a drink.
If you can't see us outside the station, please call. Look out for the group sign -
Hope to see you there!
