Come along on Saturday 18th May for a Blue Badge Guided Walk around Rotherhithe!
We have 2 guides and we will be starting the walk in 15 minute gaps, so please indicate which time/guide you wish to go with when you RSVP. If you've never attended before, both the guides are extremely good and qualified Blue Badge Guides, so just choose a random time (when you RSVP it might default to 2:00pm for the time to attend, but just ignore that and just come along at your chosen time).
About the walk and the area
The name "Rotherhithe" is thought to derive from Anglo-Saxon times and it means "landing-place for cattle". The first recorded use of this name was in about 1105, as Rederheia.
This old riverside village was much altered by the development of the Docks but still has many stories to tell. Connections with the Pilgrim Fathers, an unusual film studio, 19th century warehouses, breathtaking river views, contemporary sculpture, an 18th century church and a community centre with a sinister secret all feature on this tour of one of London’s lesser known districts.
The walk is a private walk for the group, we will split into 2 groups and we will be guided by Diane (2:00pm) & Rachel (2:15pm).
It will last about 2 hours.
Cost for the guided walk is £8 per person for Full Members of the group and £10 per person for everyone else (payable on the day).

Afterwards we will head to the Angel pub, 101 Bermondsey Wall East for a chat over a drink. Please try and make it to the pub after, as this is where real friendships are made!
Please note, we will only wait at the station for 10 minutes after the advertised meeting time so please be early or on time.
Look out for the red & blue 'London Cultureseekers' group sign outside the station.
Hope to see you there!
