Come along on Sunday 8th September for a day trip to Windsor Castle!

About Windsor Castle
Windsor Castle is an official residence of The Queen and the largest occupied castle in the world. A Royal home and fortress for over 900 years, the Castle remains a working palace today.

The castle was built by William the Conqueror shortly after the Norman invasion of 1066. Originally designed to protect Norman dominance around the outskirts of London, and to oversee a strategically important part of the River Thames, Windsor Castle was built as a motte & bailey castle, with three wards surrounding a central mound. Gradually replaced with stone fortifications, the castle withstood a prolonged siege at the beginning of the 13th century during the First Barons' War.

We will be able to visit the State Apartments which are furnished with some of the finest works of art from the Royal Collection, including paintings by Rembrandt, Rubens, Canaletto and Gainsborough.

In the grounds of Windsor Castle is St George's Chapel. Built in 1348, the chapel is the resting place for lot's of former kings & queens, including Charles I, Henry VIII and his third wife Jane Seymour.

Group entry for the castle is £22 each (payable on the day).

We will be aiming to get the 9:45am train to Windsor & Eton Riverside. GroupSave 3for2 train tickets are £8.40 each (purchase in groups of 3 when you turn up). Journey takes 1 hour.

Trains going back at: 4:01, 4:41pm (and the same times past each hour).

If you can't see us under the clock, please text.

Look out for the red and blue 'London Cultureseekers' group sign.

Hope to see you there!
